Nokia Krakow and AGH University of Science and Technology unifies its forces and launches the very first own LTE network at a university in Poland!

On Friday, 13th April 2018, at the AGH University of Science and Technology, Department of Telecommunications (Faculty of Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunications) the first academic LTE Network in Poland was launched. The university authorities and Nokia representatives has signed an agreement.

On Friday, 13th April 2018, at the AGH University of Science and Technology, Department of Telecommunications (Faculty of Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunications) the very first own LTE network at a university in Poland was launched. The university authorities and Nokia representatives has signed an agreement.

 

The network operates on the same principles as networks of commercial operators. The licensed frequency was obtained from the Office of Electronic Communications. It consists of servers, base stations (outdoor and indoor), antennas, and purchased radio band license.

 

The newly opened network will benefit both: scientists and students, who will have the unique opportunity to test the latest solutions implemented in companies with 4G and looking forward with 5G technology in near future!

 

The licensed frequency was obtained from the Office of Electronic Communications. It consists of servers, base stations (outdoor and indoor), antennas, and purchased radio band license. The advantage of the network over the system launched three years ago in one of the AGH laboratories is the fact that the installation includes two buildings belonging to the Department of Telecommunications and the area adjacent to them.
