5G Core Software Architect

Nokia Space & Defense business focuses on creating customized solutions and developing LTE and 5G commercial RAN and Core products for our customers operating in NTN, defense and public safety domains. NTN project is Nokia co-operation with AST Space Mobile company that enables innovative, direct-to-mobile over-the-satellite communication in 3GPP LTE and 5G standard. Our defense portfolio offers end-to-end, customized tactical solutions for our customers.

We are looking for a passionate Software Architect with proven broad experience in 5G Core and EPC Core development, who is eager to dive in fascinating world of high-end telecommunication technologies. End-to-end perspective, variety of tasks, lightweight processes and direct contact with customers makes these projects challenging and attractive.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

What you will learn and contribute to

  • Working with the design and implementation and maintenance of 5G Core solution and occasionally EPC Core
  • Own large /complex features having impact outside their own areas of expertise
  • Creating and reviewing requirements for functional, design and interface specifications based on system and HW specifications
  • Designing and implementing software utilizing the latest software best practices
  • Defining scope and coverage requirements for cross-component development tests
  • Participating in System test plans reviews and actively cooperating with test teams
  • Analyzing and solving complex engineering problems in radio technologies area
  • Setting up frameworks and R&D processes and practices
  • Looking for improvements opportunities and driving implementation
  • Daily cooperation with project managers in planning activities
  • Providing on-boarding trainings for newcomers and training for teammates
  • Mentoring other members of the team

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Your skills and experience

  • Thorough knowledge of 5G and EPC Core network functions (AMF, SMF, UPF, NSSF, etc.) and their interactions
  • Expertise in IP networking, TCP/IP, UDP, and other relevant protocols
  • Knowledge of Core Network protocols incl. NGAP, NAS, RRC, S1AP, GTP-U, Diameter
  • Proven track record in designing, developing, and deploying 5G/EPC Core
  • Ability to analyze and optimize Core performance
  • Knowledge of 3GPP LTE / 5G
  • Strong commercial experience in C and C++
  • Expertise in algorithm optimization, code profiling and in analysis of memory usage violations
  • Knowledge of Boost and STL C++ Libraries
  • Knowledge of unit and component test frameworks
  • Knowledge of scripting languages like Python, Bash
  • Familiarity with UNIX based and real-time operating systems
  • Familiarity with Cloud and virtualized network functions (VNFs)
  • Knowledge of GIT
  • Excellent analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Teamwork skills
  • Analytical thinking
  • Very good communication skills in English – both verbal and written
  • Readiness to work in a hybrid mode (Nokia Kraków office)

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Familiarity with O-RAN specifications and their impact on 5G Core architecture
  • Knowledge of security protocols like TLS, IPsec, and authentication mechanisms
